Given the calamities of these latish days of 2008--Henry's need for another surgery and the robbery at 518 and the water leaking first upstairs then down and the health insurance cancellation notification in yesterday's mail and the meltdown of the entire global financial system and, most calamitous of all, Sarah Palin--I feel perfectly justified demanding a birthday do-over.
